Activities of the Mission of Colombia to the United Nations
The Mission of Colombia, headed by the Permanent Representative and his Deputy, comprises some 17 persons of whom 10 are diplomats. The Mission's diplomats are representing Colombia in the Security Council, the General Assembly and its six Committees, in the Economic and Social Council and its subsidiary organs, and in other U.N. bodies located in New York.
The Mission has strong logistic support from its staff. The 10 diplomats, each specializing in a particular field, follow the world body's activities and report on them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs placed in Colombia. The diplomats also present Colombia's positions and try to ensure that these positions are taken into consideration in negotiations or in different activities.
