Colombia is a unitary, decentralized, democratic, participatory and pluralist republic. Its present Constitution was written in 1991 to reform that of 1886. The political system of the State includes three branches: the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary; there are also Control Agencies and an Electoral Organization.
