With the first public activity, the Group of Friends of Spanish in the United Nations (GAE) celebrated on 23 April 2014 the "International Day of the Spanish" with a Round table on "Multilingualism and plurilingualism as common ground at the United Nations". During the event, H.E. Ambassador María Emma Mejía addressed the audience honoring the memory of Nobel Prize Gabriel García Márquez.
