Two Colombian experts: Rodrigo Uprimny and Francisco Thoumi both elected in major organs of ECOSOC.

In the frame of the 12th coordination and management meeting of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations –ECOSOC- , were elected Dr. Francisco Thoumi and Dr. Rodrigo Uprimny Yepes as members of two major specialized bodies of the Council.
Dr. Francisco Thoumi was elected to one of 5 positions available for International Narcotics Control Board, INCB - for 2015-2020. The Colombian candidate competed against 14 candidates and obtained 28 votes from the 54 members of ECOSOC.
Moreover, Dr. Rodrigo Uprimny Yepes was elected to one of 2 vacancies for Latin American and Caribbean, to the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR), term 2015 - 2018. Dr. Uprimny competed against candidates from Brazil and El Salvador; and obtained 34 supports from 54 members of ECOSOC.
Also, as part of the ECOSOC meeting, Colombia was endorsed to be part of the following four agencies: the Commission for Social Development, the Commission on the status of Women, the Fund Executive Board of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice
