Ambassador Nestor Osorio, President of the Security Council of the United Nations, called on its Members to informal consultations in a further effort to reach an agreement on renewing the mandate of the Monitoring Mission of the United Nations in Syria (UNSMIS).

The project was presented by Germany, France, Portugal and the UK, to establish a political criteria for the final extension of 30 days of the Mission and a possible renewal of the mandate depending on the real fulfillments of obligations by all Syrian parties accordance with Council resolutions 2042, 2043, the 6-point plan of Kofi Annan and the Communiqué of the Geneva meeting of June 30, 2012.

The draft resolution was adopted unanimously and after the session Ambassador Osorio gave a press conference to communicate the positive decision of the Council.
