On September 6, in the frame of the 32nd session of the States Parties to the International Convention of Civil and Political Rights, convened by the Secretary General of the UN, the Permanent Mission of Colombia (2nd and 3rd Committee) participated in the election of nine new members to the Human Rights Committee, for the period 2013-2016.

There were elected Anja Seibert-Fohr from Germany, Lazhari Bouzid, Algeria; Fabián Omar Salvioli, Argentina; Victor Manuel Rodriguez, Costa Ric; Ahmed Amin Pathalla, Egypta; Konstantine Vardzelashvilio, Georgia; Yuval Shani, Israel; Kheshoe Parsad Matadeen, Mauritius and Nigel Rodeley, UK.

The elected members will replace the nine members of eighteen whose term ends on December 31, 2012, and among those is part Dr. Rafael Rivas Posada of Colombia. The Latin America will be represented by Costa Rica and Argentina.
