Dear Political Coordinators,
I am writing to thank you very much for the support we received from all of you and your colleagues during our Presidency in December 2002. I realize this is our final electronic mail in this capacity and as members of the Council, but there are still issues that merit some attention.
First, we have just received the latest numbers from the Secretariat on the number of meetings during the month of December reinforcing the President's announcements this morning. The numbers speak on their own: thirty three (33) meetings in the Chamber; twenty one (21) informal consultations; ten (10) presidential statements; ten (10) resolutions, and eleven (11) statements to the press.
Second, I would like to confirm that the assessment of the month is ready in Spanish and is being translated by the Secretariat. We have been informed that it will be ready by January 10, 2003, at which point we will circulate it to all current and future members of the Council for suggestions.
Third, congratulations to France for assuming the Presidency in January 2003.
Finally, I wish all of you and your families a very successful, enjoyable, and happy 2003.
Andrés Franco
Ambassador Deputy Permanent Representative
