Dear Political Coordinators,

After an intense day let me try to turn the page to Monday December 9.

Georgia After the SC's decision last month to postpone the discussion of this situation, there will be a briefing by Under Secretary General for DPKO Guheno on the latest developments. Mr. Guheno just arrived from a visit to the region.

Angola We hope to adopt the text lifting sanctions. We understand the text has been finalized earlier this afternoon, and is ready for adoption. I would also like to inform you that the Office of SRSG Gambari, through the Secretariat, has confirmed to the Presidency of their preference to present the report the afternoon of December 16. The Presidency has reserved that afternoon and is ready to schedule the briefing once the report is available to all Council members in all official languages.

Kosovo, FRY We understand that Ambassador Kolby will introduce the Mission's program, and other relevant material. The Secretariat will brief the Council on practical arrangements and the security situation.

CAR and letter from Chad (S/2002/1317) In the afternoon we will hold back to back private meetings, first, with the Prime Minister of the CAR for the first item, and then with the representative of Chad (the Permanent Mission will confirm to us who will address the Council). For both meetings, no statements from Council members are expected. Brief questions are welcome.

UNMIBH/UNMOP I would like to confirm our agreement in consultations today of two separate open meetings. On UNMIBH we will have a briefing from the Secretariat, statements from the members of the Presidency of BiH, and a Presidential Statement. On UNMOP, a briefing from the Secretariat and a Presidential Statement. Members of the SC will make no statements on either meeting.

Guinea Bissau SRSG David Stephen will be in NY the week of the 16th through the 20th. The report is expected by December 16, and may be out earlier on Friday December 13. In principle, we will take this report in informal consultations, but we will be exploring the possibility of an open meeting to support the positive intergovernmental body cooperation that is taking place between the SC and the ECOSOC.

DRC The DPKO has confirmed to us that they are ready to provide an update of the situation to the SC on the afternoon of Friday December 13 at 3:30 pm.

Lunch with the Secretary General The SG's office has confirmed that main issues for the lunch will be Iraq, Israel and Palestine, Cote D'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Burundi.

One last thing. I am glad we could have our picture taken this morning. Some of you were not there and I understand it was caused by a rigid policy on the part of the guards. We will find another opportunity.

Have a great weekend!
