Dear Political Coordinators,
Well…now we are truly approaching the end of our term. While we were at the Council today, I was thinking that pretty much everything that could have happen during a month in the Security Council happened in December. I guess the outgoing members cannot complain.
Allow me to update you on our business for the next following days.
1.-GRL This issue is pending for action in December. The US has confirmed an expert meeting on Monday December 23 at 10:30 am, and the Presidency, upon request, is ready to schedule consultations and/or a formal meeting for the adoption of the resolution. The Secretariat has informed us that they are working on translations of the text put in blue, and plan to circulate it in all languages by Sunday morning to all members of the SC.
2.-Special Event at the Council of the Americas During the Wrap Up, we circulated for all Ambassadors the report we prepared of the Special Event that was held on December 11. For your personal reference, attached please find a copy of the report in English (only by email). We were very satisfied with the discussion on that occasion and trust that this document will be useful in the future.
3.-A special thanks There is someone who’s work I would like to recognize. David Biggs from the Secretariat has provided efficient support to the Colombian Presidency and I want all of you to know that.
4.-The reception Finally, a friendly reminder that the reception will take place on Monday 23 December. I am confident all of you have received invitations. It is reflected in the program of work.
